ICHINOSUKE UMEKAWA/BIOGRAPHY

大分県生まれ。新潟大学卒業。

2005年、東京バレエ団に入団。
出演作品 モーリスベジャール振付『ボレロ』『ギリシャの踊り』、古典作品『ジゼル』『眠れる森の美女』など多数。
2006年度、海外公演を重ねるうち、自国日本への思いが強くなり、同年退団。

2007年より3年間、国立劇場で歌舞伎俳優の研修を受ける。
研修では歌舞伎実技をはじめ、立廻り、長唄、三味線、義太夫、太鼓、鼓、箏曲、茶道などの邦楽、歌舞伎の基礎を学ぶ。
研修時代、その後に多大な影響を受ける、人間国宝坂東玉三郎氏と出会う。

2010年研修の卒業後、中村獅童一門に入る。
中村獅二郎の芸名で初舞台を踏む。
出演作品『助六由縁江戸桜』『仮名手本忠臣蔵』『忍夜恋曲者 将門』など多数。

2016年、歌舞伎俳優から日本舞踊を専門とした舞踊家へ転身する。以降、日本舞踊の世界だけに捉われず、古典や現代アートとの融合作品を数多く手掛け、ファッション、テクノロジーやクラシック音楽とのコラボ、また神社仏閣や美術館を舞台とした取り組みなど、新進気鋭の舞踊家である。

舞踊家以外にも、海外文化交流をはじめ、坂東玉三郎氏のトークショーでの司会、映画、モデル、ラジオパーソナリティーなど活動の場を広げている。

Born in Oita prefecture. Graduated from Niigata University.

In 2005 he joined the Tokyo Ballet Company. Casting works include Maurice Béjart choreography “Bolero” “Greek dance”, classic works “Gisele” “Sleeping Beauty” and many others. In 2006, repeated overseas performances, his feelings towards Japan became stronger, and he left the same year.

He received training from Kabuki actors at the National Theater for three years from 2007. In training, students learn the basics of Kabuki practice, Japanese music such as standing, Nagauta, Shamisen, Oshida, Taiko, drums, Koto music, tea ceremony and so on. When he was training, he met Mr. Tamasaburo Bando, a Living National Treasure who greatly influenced him.

After graduating from 2010 training, he entered Nakamura Shido Ichimon. He took to the first stage with Nakamura Shijiro as stage name. Casting works include “Sukeroku Yukarino Edo Zakura”, “Kanadehon Chushingura”, “Shinobiyoru Koihakusemono Shoumon” and many others.

In 2016, he transformed from a kabuki actor to a dancer specializing in Japanese dance. Since then, not only in the world of Japanese dance, but working hand-in-hand with fusion, classical and contemporary art, collaboration with fashion, modern beats, classical music, or shrines and temples and museums as a stage. He is now up and coming “Buyo-ka.”

Apart from dancing, he has also expanded into activities such as overseas cultural exchanges, hosts by Mr.Tamasaburo Bando’s moderator, movie, model, radio personality.
